Cute kittens, growing up fast, protective mama, sharp claws. Now they’re hunting (or mama is) and leaving shredded leftover fur and other bloody bits on the deck. Small pets walking around loose in their own yards are at risk.

Sorry to be such a downer, but we’ve got one in our neighborhood. Don’t know where her kits are; I hope gone to the foothills. Anyhow, she’s about the size of our poodle-mix, only many times stronger and many years younger, and every time she’s been sighted by my husband, she’s been looking at our dog in a very calculating manner.

They didn’t stay long, maybe three weeks. But I was scared the whole time, and warned all the neighbors.

It was unnerving to see her out there so often. They never came back, that I am aware of.
