The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've now realized the biggest problem with watching little to no TV (for at least 10 yrs...)
Crossword puzzles. References to TV shows, pop culture, etc - utterly stumped on those clues unless I read about it here, on Twitter, etc.
Other than that....pure joy!

(3,173 posts)I get quiet satisfaction from knowing I've never even once watched some really popular TV shows. Not once! The list is quite extensive, and includes a number of so-called cultural icons. I do know that Snooki is a character from some program about the Jersey shore and is considered a bad influence on children, especially girls. I also know that "Friends" and "Cheers" are two different programs but I've never watched either one.

(3,173 posts)Just think of all the bother it would save the non-TV watching population if someone were to post a synopsis of what a popular show is all about. I think Seinfeld works in a diner, or he eats in one. I happen to know that because I used to pass it on Broadway and 114th Street and I'd see tourists posing in front of it. But I don't know what Seinfeld does for a living or what provides the basis of the comedy on the show.
Cheers is set in a bar, and I assume it's a standard laugh-track comedy about the characters and the events of their lives. I don't know what Friends is about except that presumably the characters are all friends. One of the actresses from that show is always on the cover of the weekly tabloids, possibly because she has an active press agent.
