Re- the New Batman movie:

Last edited Tue Jul 24, 2012, 10:36 AM - Edit history (1)

I found it thickly R-wing propagandistic.

The villain, though named Bane, is exactly what the R-wing would like us to believe Occupiers are; and there's a scene showing violent mobs, encouraged by Bane to take what they've been deprived of by the those better off than them, assaulting helpless old ladies in mink coats and otherwise reenacting the worser parts of the French Revolution.

And at one point, a gov't rep. shows up, supposedly to try to negotiate with Bane; and the gov't guy is a total ringer for Obama. And guess what, the gov't guy turns out to be a traitor, and not as smart as he thought he was, either.

These points are of course programmed into the audience emotionally by keeping them in adrenalin overload for as long as possible.

My sig. other is a huge fan of superhero stuff, so I pretty much had to see it; but I feel I should warn others. If possible, I suggest boycotting it.

I watched the movie and didnt' see it that way.
I guess, I just don't look for propaganda or deeper meaning of things too much. Or perhaps, I just don't put or assume attributes on things that more than likely wasn't thought to be that way or intended in that manner.

Much like I wouldn't call Spongebob a liberal assault on morality. I can call it dumb, but that's because I think it's dumb.

Everyone saw their own political beliefs reflected in that movie. It was like a Rorschact Blot made of half-naked blood-soaked men.

Me? I could see why people got what they got from it, but I have only so much RAM in my head, and I use movies to escape the planet for a bit. I'll probably see people's reasons for political interpretations when I see this new Batman flick, but mostly I'm just hoping to enjoy it. The makers have a lot to live up to after Heath Ledger's astonishing performance in the last one.

I kept laughing when they were trying to say GWB was like Leonidas. Told them, he'd be the first to duck, run and hide behind his Poppa. Granted, I gotta admit the boy has some reflexes on him. He avoided two shoes and made it look like fun. He usually has that smug schmuck of a look on his face which usually annoys but amuses me at times.

Sorry, due to the manga "Legend of Koizumi" which is so crazy dumb and off the wall, I just find myself amused at odd things.

Problem is, he's just not that cut.
Though the Soda Float looks pretty nice.

thought it was well done, and a satisfying third film in the trilogy.

I really didn't read much into the political angles, yes, there are some. Rather, I sat back, enjoyed myself and didn't allow myself to think too much for 2 1/2 hours.

Every time a blockbuster comes out I hear both people on the left and right accusing it of being propaganda for the other side.
