Do they think we are not serious?

(43,049 posts)it's not so much to you.

(32,088 posts)Nobody else was in the conversation. Although, it could've been to the clouds...

(5,317 posts)I've been told that several times, yet only have 1 person ignoring me.

(27,630 posts)I have seen so many times, an exchange like this:
HuffyDUer: You offend my sensibilities and therefore you are now welcomed to join my ignore list.
ArgumentativeDUer: But you are still wrong and I am still right.
HuffyDUer: You're a jerk!
Argumentative DUer: I thought you were ignoring me.
etc...
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)I apparently somehow offended his sensibilities, or lack thereof, and he decided to be a dick about it. I find the whole thing to be hoot, actually.
I usually don't put people on ignore, and if I do, 90% of them wind up with granite pizzas anyway, and the rest come off. I'm thinking this one has a pizza in his future...
Quantess
(27,630 posts)and only for a couple of weeks or so. I have only ever had one DUer on permanent ignore: LoZoccolo, and he is banned now.

(32,088 posts)I just said, "So much for the empty ignore list. Good bye." That is as close as I have come to any "announcement" ever. I am usually able to avoid belligerent people who have a giant sticks up their asses, but this one caught me by surprise.

(21,020 posts)Are you saying that you sort of suggested that this person was going on your ignore list, after which you put him there, and then his reply to you somehow showed up even though you put him on your ignore list?
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)It shows that someone replied to something you posted. If you click on the corresponding number under "Replies to Me", it will say that the one replying is on your Ignore list. If you click on what's under "Title of My Post", the post will show up on top, but not in the thread. It will still be there for everyone else (barring those who have you on ignore ). You can tell when "ignored" people reply, but you just can't see it.

(18,101 posts)Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to people I've seen who make a big deal about putting someone on ignore. I don't recall ever seeing you do that.
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)I see it all the time, too. It's kinda funny, actually. It's also one of the reasons I rarely put anyone on Ignore. If I did, I would miss that kind of entertainment. LOL!

(2,282 posts)There are DUers other than you. So plenty of people will still read the reply even if you ignore the poster.
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)This was an irrelevant subthread within an OP that has hundreds of posts. Most people don't read through posts like that.

(8,492 posts)I've been told probably 20+ times that I'm being put on ignore. I only have 8 ignoring me with that odd 9 pm ignores.
Oh, and I know for a fact that one said she put me on ignore about 6 months ago, but replied to me last week.
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)I have never had anyone on permanent Ignore. Some of that comes from them being tombstoned. Some people purge their list every so often. I'm betting that's what happened the one who said she was ignoring you.

(95,337 posts)Just kidding - please don't ignore me

Similar motivation.

Just as in real life... sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "I can't HEAR you!" is likely to elicit a response.
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)...then why reply? Why shout into dead airspace? That's what I am trying to understand.
petronius
(26,603 posts)direct recipient - just because you've bowed out of the conversation doesn't mean it's over.
They could also be giving you fair warning that they will be commenting on things you say in the future - making clear that the ignore is one-sided.
They could simply be telling you they don't care: by announcing the ignore you were saying you thought it would matter to them, and the reply says you're wrong.
Or, they could just be making fun of you for (in their opinion) running away...
GoCubsGo
(32,088 posts)They want to continue harping over an imaginary slight, regardless of how many times you say no slight was intended, good day, good bye, so long and thanks for the fish. Some people just can't let things go.
