AMAZING photo of Vampira (from a 1954 Life Magazine photo shoot on Hollywood Blvd)

R.I.P Maila "Vampira" Nurmi, 1922–2008. Her Facebook page is lovingly maintained with a PLETHORA of archive photos like the one below. It is extremely "like-worthy."

1934 - Morgan, Walls & Clements

Part of the original 160 acres known as "HOLLYWOOD" this parcel was owned by the districts founder H.H. Wilcox. The small building was an attempt at daring modernity. An asymmetrical tower swoops up from what was a sleek facade, and the corner is streamlined - the latest thing in 1934, when the fascination for pulsating movement during the 1920's (and seen here in the tower) was replaced by an interest in swiftness: the rounded forms of "Streamline Moderne" evoked images of the wind sweeping past.
