Trying to speak Boston without actually having been born there is tricky. They can tell out there. And to them, it sounds like people are making fun of them. It's a very subtle thing.
Like when actors try to emulate JFK's Boston in a movie. Even I, out here in the boondocks (anywhere that's not Boston), can tell it's fake.
Better to just let him sound like a "foreigner".
