When we were down there a few weeks ago they said they had their 'shelter in place' and 'bug out' supplies packed. Mom said then that their neighborhood was scheduling emergency preparedness meetings to check that everyone had what they needed and to go over procedures. They're just south of Sarasota, in Rotonda West, and right now it's not looking too good for them. Supposedly their house is built enough above code that they actually got discounts on their insurance because of the construction. I'm just always afraid that Mom and Dad would try to use that as an excuse to 'ride a storm' out, even if it was totally against common sense. They're 76 and 80yo.
