After 12+ years I'm unhooking the cable box and returning it to Comcast. Also unloading my phone with them too.
I said after True Blood and the DNC Convention ended I was getting rid of this overpriced service and switching to lower priced options.
I do want to have some TV - I did buy a fancy TV earlier this year so I"m going to look into an HDTV Antenna along with adding Netflix and possible NFL season to my TV (I Can get that thru my Apple TV).
I figured by the time I'm done with all of this I'll save about $100 a month on overpriced services I don't really need.

(47,675 posts)I shut off the tube 30 years ago (except for local access like VCR/DVD/LaserDisc).
To be fair, we did get cable for about 6 months when my youngest was in Kindergarten, but that was just for Mr. Rogers, Bear in the Big Blue House, Reading Rainbow, and similar things. Then we dropped it.

(26,117 posts)but hubby needs it for the soccer channels, and the kids watch some live TV.
On the up side, we subscribe to digital TV over our phone line from our locally-owned phone company. It's nice to run into the owner at social gatherings, and he asks us how things are going with the service, etc. Buy Local!

(38,311 posts)Nothing but a seven and a half inch square wire antenna, Redbox, and DSL internet via a local provider.
Every month I feel $75 dollars wealthier.

(24,146 posts)you should be able to get some channels simply by plugging your tv into the cable outlet, we get enough channels that way to keep us entertained, including a half dozen pbs channels and all the local affiliates, and i was able to watch the convention on cspan. i do miss food network, though.
