The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHey, Lounge! I set a goal for myself tonight. And I did it!
Pretty good for a guy who couldn't make 2 miles last Monday night:

Fuzzy photo, sorry, but it's 10.18 miles.
Yup, my Friday night goal was to see if I could break the 10 mile mark. I've been increasing the distance I rode each day this week. But breaking 10 was my longest ride yet by a couple of miles.

You are going to feel so much better and stronger, if you aren't already...
You seriously rock!

(47,675 posts)Forget the mountain bike tread, go for the racing tread. The mountain bike tread ads a shitload of drag to the bike and unless you're off-road, it's a handicap. And watch out for the fucking beer cans!

(6,581 posts)When I bought it, years ago, they recommended these. I could check with the bike store guys, though.
Oh, yeah, that's just my Dt. Mt. Dew can in the first photo, I dropped it.

(47,675 posts)I used to clock 30 mph downhill on my Schwinn Sprint racing bike. You couldn't fall off at that speed if you wanted to, but car doors are definitely a hazard. My mountain bike can barely hit 20 downhill. Curiously, our Tandem can do 30 mph downhill with 1 3/4" tires, but they're road tread, not off-road. Up hill on the tandem is more like 2 mph. The fucker weighs about 80 lbs.
