Nick Prassas shared this photo of what appears to be a family of bobcats visiting his home near West Tangerine Road and North La Cañada Drive in Oro Valley. This group stayed in the backyard for more than an hour.

(10,952 posts)if it were me, I wouldn't want it to become a habit. I would think that it would in fringe upon the use of your own yard (plus I have two dogs that need to be able to go outside to do their chores.

(12,869 posts)catching one in Sabino Canyon. He tied the cat up in his jacket, threw it in the backseat, and went back Tucson. Stopped at a gas station to get something to drink and while he was inside saw his car driving off. The story goes that he borrowed a truck and chased his car down the road, After a bit the car started weaving erratically and drove off the side of the road. The door came open and the driver came out running. The bob cat came out the window on the other side. When the student got to the car, he found the jacket on the back seat, the headliner and upholstery shredded. The guy who stole the car said, "Mister, you got a lion in your car!"
Don't know how accurate this is, sort of scrapping the bottom of my memory.

(10,718 posts)...though getting badly torn up would be expected if you tried to catch or corral one.
Incidents of bobcats attacking humans are rare but not unknown, and usually associated with rabies, which makes any animal insanely aggressive. For the most part, they are a "don't look for trouble and trouble won't look for you" kind of animal. They keep to themselves and are best left to it.

I had assumed that was a picture of the Desert Museum. How cool to have them in a backyard!!!

My folks had a home in a new subdivision in Oro Valley and would tell me about all the wildlife
strolling through their neighborhood. They said the coolest thing was a sizable pack of JUVENILE
coyotes running through, probably out for a little hell-raising.
.
Mama Coyote: Where you going?
.
Teen Coyote: Out.

Mama Coyote: What are you going to do?

Teen Coyote: Nothin'.
