'Cause I'm having a lonely evening and I miss her a lot.
I guess most here don't know that she died at my feet one cold winter afternoon- one minute she was barking at something outside the window and the next minute she simply collapsed
and died.
It took me months to come back from that moment, and it still hits me unexpectedly from time to time, mostly in the quiet of the late night.
She wasn't even supposed to be mine- she belonged to Carol, my roommate, but she chose me instead, bless her mountain-sized heart.

C'mere.....let me hug you.
I know how sadness can sneak up on you, usually when you're most vulnerable....and then it's extra hard.
Those are very cute pictures, and I'll bet you get a lot of comfort from looking at them.
I hope someday you'll be able to see them with joy and not so much sorrow...

(15,676 posts)She and Blondie were best friends- they loved to chase each other from one end of the house to the other- they'd stalk, pounce, and do the no-traction-on-the-tile floor thing trying to get up to running speed for the Big Chase.
Lucy was lonely for a long time too. Since I was forced to leave Tippy Pretty Kitteh in Texas, she's lost all her growing-up friends. Still, she's happy here with me, my sister, and Lady, and is the most loving cat I've ever had.

(6,011 posts)It must have been such a shock since no health problem was apparent to you. How old was she? Did you call her Blondie, or Puppeh Girl, or both?
I love our dog Sally. I could only wait a couple of months after our Billie-girl died before finding Sally's photo & description on the SPCA Petfinder website, and we went to meet her in front of Petco, where the SPCA shows adoptable dogs. They are being fostered and live with people in their homes, so you can get good info on the dogs' temperament. I believe this is a common practice in other places, too.
We adopted Sally that morning, almost ten years ago.
Do you think about getting another dog?

(6,671 posts)on several meds to keep him comfortable (collapsing trachea). He still acts like a puppy ... but is blind and deaf. He doesn't seem to be in pain. My cat and him are best friends. I know that any day, he could leave me. It is very hard to deal with it.
