I'm taking Cultural Anthropology and our assignment is to practice being an observer/participant. So we get to take notes on our experience (sights, sounds, what they do, etc) and then code it like lab notes.
(We had to pick somethng we're not familiar with, and it's due tonight so I dont have the luxury to pick somethng else...I tried to go to synagogue bbut my anxiety made me sick and then I thought it would be best to not go to a Jewish or Muslim place of worship because I dont want the people there to feel like I am just a spectator of some kind)
kinda cool...but my anxiety is over the top. All the times I went to sunday school as a guest and felt like I stood out, my clothes dont fit right, etc...
I get to put on my "scientist" hat and hopefully it will help with my personal bullshit.

Fragrant incense, bells on the censer, melodic chanting.)

(65,251 posts)...I picked up 8 discounted elective hours (summer classes) in Comparative Religion. (Needed to liberal arts hours as my regular classes were so science & math heavy(
Took 201 one summer, 202 the next.
Though I quit going to church at 13 or 14, these were interesting.
Met once a week. Spent 90 minutes on the cultural history, 60 minutes on religion history & an hour on tenets. Then, on the weekend, went to a service followed by lunch at a restaurant culturally connected. (Except for LDS. What would Mormon cuisine be, exactly?)
Lutheran church, German food; Hinduism, Indian food; Russian Orthodox, Russian joint; & Bahai, Persian food, Black Baptust, sound food place, & so on.
I've always been glad I took those classes. Hope your endeavor works out as well.
