This is a beautiful work. I am completely unfamiliar with the artist, however. But I do love the look of winter, complete with the rawness of snow that doesn't quite cover the grass yet...

"Pennsylvania Impressionists," who painted in the area of Bucks County in Pennsylvania during the early part of the twentieth century.

As it happens, I live very close to this area, and go to Bucks county and the surrounding environs relatively frequently. There are still, to this day, scenes very much like the ones Redfield and the other Pennsylvania impressionists painted, including Fleecydale Road.

The Michener Museum - which was left as a legacy by the writer James A. Michener, author of outstanding novels such as "The Source." "Tales of the South Pacific" and "Hawaii" to the people of Bucks Country - has one of the greatest collections of this school of art. It was Michener's private collection. It's a marvelous museum, and it contains many artifacts and manuscripts from Michener's office. Upon her death, Michener's widow, Mari Yoriko Sabusawa donated the collection to found the museum. Michener was known for his exquisite taste in art, and was quite discerning. He was very proud of having assembled this collection while never having spent more than $5,000 for a painting.

One can tour the museum fairly well in two or three hours, but it is very possible to spend a long time just sitting in the wonderful outdoor sculpture garden.

Redfield should not be regarded however has a provincial artist. Examples of his paintings are found in major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which I personally regard as one of the greatest museums in the world, definitely comparable to the Louvre.

I really like it.

I've been places and times just like that, and I have photographs with the same colors.
