Rutger Hauer Sinks His Teeth Into 'True Blood' for Season 6

utger Hauer has just landed himself a bloody good role.

The "Blade Runner" star has signed on as a regular on the upcoming sixth season of HBO's vampire hit "True Blood," a spokeswoman for the network told TheWrap.

Hauer, whose TV work includes appearances on "Smallville" and "Alias," will play a character named Macklyn, a shady character with a longstanding connection to Sookie Stackhouse and her brother, Jason.

Though I don't understand where an "old" vampire fits in, when everyone seems to get rejuvenated once they turn.

it's pretty much accepted that you freeze at whatever age you were turned. Anne Rice goes into it a lot more deeply - to the point that if a vamp cuts his hair all off one night, when he wakes up the next night it's all grown back to the exact same length. If a child is turned, they physically stay a child in appearance. And it annoys the poop out of some of them - be a thousand years old but too short to ride the e-ticket rides.

Which is why I never bothered to become a vampire. If I can't get my bald spots all filled back in, what's the point?

I think, depending on which vampire universe you're in, a good healthy feeding will temporarily give one some beauty perks but you eventually revert back to what you were when you got turned. Of course, vampires can always glamour people into thinking they see a younger, studlier/prettier vamp...

Dracula was one of the first "grown up" books I remember reading and I have been a horror fan ever since. Vamps especially.

Which is funny considering how queasy I get at the sight of real blood...

Could not believe how much more superior the book was over the imitations. I don't think we even came close until Anne Rice wrote the Diary.

that Anne Rice had Hauer in mind when she created Lestat. At that time he would have been a perfect vamp.

For the love of God, no more Marnie.

But yeah, it's always funny when one character on the show has some crazy story and another character supposedly 'doesn't believe them'. It's like, really? You don't believe this incredulous shit, but you do believe all the rest of it?

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
