Question about "Girls"

Do they sneak in important scenes from the previous show into the clips before each episode?

I'm going through HBO on demand and I don't remember Marnie breaking up with her boyfriend in Episode 6 (Give or take an Episode) but it happens in a quick clip before the next episode begins.

And then they did it again in the following episode when Hannah lies to her mother, telling her she doesn't need money because she's making it work.

Is this something new? Or am I just not that observant?

I recently watched the whole first season in a few days. I really enjoy that show.

But when I realized that the main character is the writer, producer, director, etc.

I can see the appeal, now that I got over the hump of the first impression.
