So How Do I Find Out Where the Picture Was Taken?

One of the nature wallpapers I use for daydreaming about my backpacking trips into the Cascades umpteen years ago was already on my laptop when hubby bought it used, and I just found the image on Google:

http://wallpaperwise.com/Lake_Side_HD-4031.html

I'm not tech savvy and have no idea how to find photo locations posted on Google. Help, please?

The picture just makes me want to take off my boots and wade in. I'd sure like to know where it is.

You can always try going to Google Images, clicking the image icon, then pasting a link to the image struggle4progress Oct 2012 #1

Interesting coincidence that here in Portland last night on OPB channel was a segment showcasing the method with which he shoots the very same kinds of pictures.
His specialty is time lapse which is made with multiple single exposures and that shot looks like it may be one of his.

Here's a link:

So I used the search terms "how to tell if Google image is real" and got a hit on Yahoo Answers directing me to Tin Eye Reverse Image Search. I entered the URL from Google and got three results from a search of over two billion images (in 2.5 seconds, no less).

One of the results was labeled "moechen photoshelter."

Another search of that term and I discover Moe Chen is a photographer. I scrolled through his gallery of color pix on his website and voila! My beautiful laptop wallpaper is called Jordan Pond and it's in Acadia National Park in Maine. The guy is GOOD -- check out his gallery here:

Here's the picture:

Admit it -- you want to go wading.

except I already knew to use tineye. (I teach photography, and it's a great plagiarism checker if I notice an image that seems oddly above a student's normal skill level.)
