The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt time to start the Walking Dead thread, new season starting tonight.
AMC has been showing the last two seasons this weekend.
Never enough zombies.
It has been a long time since I have liked a show this much.

(18,705 posts)I think by now anyone still alive living with zombies would have become mean and lean.
Kill or be killed.
I have lived under stress, a lot of stress.
Stress makes you hard or kills you.
I am still alive.
It does change you.
You can't go back.

(38,000 posts)I stayed up till six this morning watching that marathon. That damned show. I don't normally go for horror but, that. damned. show....

Which is fine with me. I like the show, would like it a lot more w/o all the gore.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)The Governor seems really interesting.
I did look at the comic book the other day at the bookstore.
Didn't really have the time to really read it.
I need a few hours to go back and read it.

(53,410 posts)The writers decided to do that deliberately to keep people interested and it's working.

(5,604 posts)That Andrew Lincoln said more walkers get killed in tonights episode than in all of season 1. But I think you are right about the direction of the new season as a whole.
Hayabusa
(2,135 posts)I'd certainly say so, especially with the implication that they had to clean out an entire cell block of the zombie prisoners that were in the cells.

I figured that he must have been a terrible shot, or else he would have been surrounded by a 15' high wall of Zombie carcasses. Maybe in season 3 he'll loose an arm and have it replaced with a chain gun.
On edit:

(47,553 posts)They talk about getting through the winter like it just happened.
But, Lori had a flat stomach at the end of last season.... and, now looks ready to give birth any day now.

(17,621 posts)I read somewhere that isn't a bad idea at all in a survival situation. Think about it: Food, a kitchen, guns and ammo, shelter--maybe even running water. There should be a pretty decent array of medical supplies in the infirmary too. Plus, it can be secured once all the zombies inside have been disposed of. Lori is going to need someplace safe to have that kid.
BTW, did they recast the role of Herschel? He looks so different.

How much time do they have before the disease or whatever the hell it is spreads?

(13,661 posts)Do you know what the deal is with hacking Hershel's leg off? Will that stop the spread of the cooties?
EDITED: Just checked IMDB and looks like he's in at least 7 more episodes... but still - how long do they have to remove a limb before infection sets in? Anyone know?
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Maybe he will make it.
He is the only Dr. they have.
Baclava
(12,047 posts)you don't get all the answers
maybe they are infected, but just carriers of the disease, low level-like, resistant in some way, yet if bitten they get flooded with the toxin or whatever
look how fast Shane turned when he died, in minutes, without being bitten, yet earlier in the show it took hours and hours for Andrea's sister Amy to turn after she was bitten
another mystery

The zombies on chains, according to the graphic novel, are a friend and an ex....
Hope that clears up some issues!

(2,135 posts)it reprints a short comic that was in an issue of Playboy earlier this year as well as part of #22, I believe. Found it in my pull this week and I enjoyed it.

(46,715 posts)She keeps them for company. She's a family gal.
lunatica
(53,410 posts)Long story short, she uses them to camouflage her smell with the zombies. Kind of like when they put a zombie body on top of them so the zombies can't smell them.

The ax was dirty from killing zombies, so I hope they find some strong meds.

(18,705 posts)I like the guy.
Just think, he and his girls could still be living on the farm.
He was right wanting to make them leave his farm.
It was only a matter of time before the zombies in the barn escaped.

(53,410 posts)No. The axe was clean. Herschel carries a makeshift medical bag and it was in it, to be used specifically for that purpose. If you watch The Talking Dead after the Walking Dead show you get all kinds of information.

The helicopter herding the walkers toward the farm, away from the city.

Yay The Walking Dead is back and the first thing we get to see is a zombie eyeball. Oh, Walking Dead. You do so know what we like.
Without Stupid Shane wrecking the dynamic, we can finally get to Daryl serving as Officer Ricks second. This is already so much more compelling, as its actual action and not standing around talking. Rick and Daryl patrolling is a thousand times more fun to watch than Rick and Shane and were only 100 seconds into the episode.
Also along on this expedition is Carl, carrying a gun with an hilariously huge silencer.
Enter Horrible Lori, hugely pregnant.

(18,705 posts)It is not that he hates her it is because he is very stressed out.
He is trying to keep everyone alive, he is tired.
I know the feeling.
I was under extreme stress for awhile, it takes a lot out of you.
At the end of the last episode Rick is just wore out, sliding down the wall.
When the baby is born, however it is born Rick will be there.
Rick is just doing the best he can.
Bless him, he just had to chop a leg off a friend.
I feel for Rick, he cares but he can't show it.

If a zombie is coming after you it is kill or be killed.
Once someone becomes a zombie, they are not your friends anymore.
