The first and last time I bought an extended warranty was four years ago when I purchased my SONY

flat panel TV. Last week a vertical line appeared on the right side of the display. I contacted the retailer and they sent out a repairman. He just left. The panel needs replaced. He will send a report to the retailer and let me know if they decide to replace the panel or give me a new set. The TV cost $2,800. The warranty $400. If I had to pay for the repair the panel would cost a minimum of $800. The labor $75.00/hr.

Lucked out!

Unreal! When my $300.00 blu-ray took a dump, I replaced it with a better one for $80.00. ohiosmith Oct 2012 #2
Well that worked. Most extended warranties are garbage. The shit either works or doesn't. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #3
Yes! It's directly with the retailer instead of a third party. ohiosmith Oct 2012 #4
