America's Oldest Fruitcake.

Whoops, wrong picture...

Here we go:

America's Oldest Fruitcake.

A good fruitcake can last a long time. The high sugar content in the cake helps it keep, and if you frequently moisten the cake with liquor it can last a very long time.

A very, very long time. America's oldest documented fruitcake was baked in 1878 by Fidelia Bates, and it is still in her family today. In 2003 her great grandson, Morgan Ford of Tecumseh, Michigan, brought the cake on Jay Leno's talk show. Despite possible health risks Jay ate a very small piece of the cake. He said it smelled good but tasted crystallized. That's pretty good praise for a cake that's 125 years old.

The only things that will be left on Earth after Armageddon are roaches, fruitcake and Keith Richards

So you can imagine how much I laughed when I discovered that you had beaten me to the punch.

.
MiddleFingerMomMom sent me a large canned fruitcake when I was in Germany and it got hidden
away in a closet until one night when I was RAVENOUSLY hungry and that fruitcake was the ONLY
thing possibly available at that time of night.
.
It had been SOAKED in Cointreau and was AMBROSIAL (of course, the REASON I was so hungry
might have had something (A LOT) to do with that.
.
Hash is good.
Hash is great.
And we thank it for our groove.
Ramen.
.
EXCEPT for the time I listened to a buddy's Nazareth collection while stoned, ran out the next day
and bought THREE of their albums and, after listening to some of them all, thought to myself:
.
.
.
"These guys SUCK... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... and that hash was fucking EXCELLENT!!!"

MiddleFingerMom put hash in the fruitcake... then he put the fruitcake in the fruitcske.

I do remember some of that Blond Lebanese they had in Germany. Buddy of mine was on guard duty one night and had a knot of it in his pocket (like 7gr or so), and he got paranoid thinking he was going to get serched by the OD. Ate the whole thing and was wasted for the next 24 hrs. What a doofus.

And you're right, Nazareth is great... when you're stoned!
