The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTime again to post your favorite band no one really has heard but should
My 2 selections.
If you like bitchin' heavy metal women rocking it hard then check out Black Thunder Ladies. They're out of Germany but I know one of the members. But they put out a pretty decent album that reminds you of all those great 90s hair band except moderized for 2012 and done by an all women band. http://www.blackthunder.info/index.php?inh_id=6
Another band I've been listening to is a bit more local - Villians Like You. They opened for Blues Traveler the other day. I'll be honest, not a big fan of opening acts; usually it's some second rate band that makes you linger around the lobby bar so you can drink some more before the act you want to see is on stage. But these guys were actually quite good. Alt-rock style band with a bit of an oldschool sound to them

So post here some of the bands you enjoy that aren't mainstream but perhaps could be one day!

Pretty sure they hated it. We could only get country stations anyway.

(95,337 posts)I list them as Alt-Country because it is country sounding but it's not that mainstream crap.
I first heard of them when I read the book "I'm with the Band" - the story about Pamela Miller, one of the legendary groupies of the 70s. She had a massive crush on Chris Hillman who played with FBB.

(19,288 posts)I still love those guys. They wrote so many songs. None of them got air time.
I love, The Man In The Fog. Sounds like a Mexican parade.

(25,586 posts)sort of reminiscent of Death Cab. I first heard them being played in my comic book store, which is yet another reason I love the place.
And of course, I always recommend the guys that inspired my username, the great slowcore pioneers Codeine.
