Hallelujah! One of my patients (a former working girl) is now out of the life and off the streets!

I was overjoyed when I heard. She's happy, healthy, working a steady (and legal) job, and is generally doing well. Saw her today; she couldn't be happier. she's made a real turnaround.

Life is good!...

The strictures of her parole kind of force her to walk the straight and narrow. But the up side is, she's a lot happier now. I posted a thread about a year ago, relating a clinic visit with her that just about broke my heart.

She was living an awful life, she was shooting up all the time and getting lots of nasty skin abscesses, she cried all the way through her clinic visits, etc.

She's much better now. And when my patients are happy, I'm happy...

Every time I would think of it, something in me would die a little.

I love that it has a happy ending...

We discussed it a bit - it was her armor and way to feel 'normal' ...

I thought about her a lot after your post. I am so glad to hear she's well. If you see her again and think she'd respond well, tell her a complete stranger who lives on the other side of the country is thrilled that she's healthy and happy.

It was a 180-degree difference this time. You would have been very thrilled to see the change, as I was.

This job has its rewards...

I haven't seen them around the clinic in a while. I hope they're all right.

They're in a dangerous profession...
