... their coffee is rocket fuel by industry standards (and I drink coffee for "medicinal
effects" only -- though I will drink a white chocolate mocha for taste).
.
See the link to the energyfiend.com comparative caffeine chart below (click on
"coffee" . While the other "industry leaders" (McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons)
are between 11-14mg of caffeine per oz of coffee, Starbucks is 21-22.
.
And it's not all THAT expensive for a venti coffee (their largest). Probably around
$2-2.25 still. You would have to drink 8 shots of espresso to match that. What would
impress me is if you could get a Starbucks barista to DISCUSS that caffeine level --
I never could. Even the friendliest, most bored amongst them would change the
subject or move away quickly.
.
I think it might be a fireable offense to discuss it. They must be preparing for the day
when someone tries to legislate caffeine as a pharmaceutical drug.

(47,675 posts)I asked for a small regular coffee and the "dude" behind the counter acted like I'd just ordered something in Swahili. He said something like, "You want a (some Spanish word for size) (some marketing word for regular coffee)?" I said, no, I want a small regular coffee. It still confused the shit out of him. And the fucker STILL cost $1.79. I should have just gone down to the McDonalds (also within walking distance) to get a REAL cup of coffee at half the price.
On Edit: It also tasted like water strained through dog shit.

... and rocket fuel allows things (and people -- especially "lethargic poster children" like me) to become jet-propelled.

I never really liked the taste of tequila, but I drank it... a LOT of it... for medicinal purposes, too.

.
.
And it was DEFINITELY worth it to spend a little extra on it, for so many reasons.
