Hopefully the place won't catch fire when I walk in there. They may try to perform an exorcism on the spot.
Seriously, my wife is an Episcopalian and I'm an agnostic. But I go to church with her on special occasions, like when we got married and stuff. Today we are getting a blessing on the occasion of our anniversary.
Our differences on religion have caused us little problem. One of the first things I talked to Jen about was religion. I made sure she was aware that I was not the church going type and that she was okay with it. And she assured me that Episcopalians are cool. At least the ones at her church are. They are liberal minded people. They believe in a good drink, gay marriage, and loving your neighbor as well as God. They have a community kitchen that's open to anyone in need of a free meal. They have a charity that redistributes old furniture and electronics and appliances and such to those in need. We had a TV and a dining room set that we didn't need. We gave them a call and they came and picked the stuff up and gave it to someone who could use it.
In short, they are good people. They know I'm not really into religion but accept me as I am. I've never felt pressured there. I wish all believers were like that.

The reason why I brought religion up so soon ( it was our first date) was that I had been talking to another woman for a couple of weeks before I met Jen and when she found out I didn't share her religious views she dumped me. I didn't want a repeat of that so I got it out in the open early.

(149,639 posts)I think they'll be glad to see you! You and Jen have worked out any possible wrinkles, and I don't think you'll have any problems over religion.
All of you are good people.

(737 posts)although I don't agree with everything they believe. I use to work for an Episcopalian community youth ministry years ago. They have great community outreach programs.
