Poor thang, you must be melting in all that heat down there.
And howdy to Cal. Peggy!!!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,683 posts)Actually, it wasn't hot. Temps in the 70's with a little breeze.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)The little bit of fog cooled it off just right.

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,683 posts)The front fin belongs to the front dolphin, and the rear fin belongs to the..........oh never mind!
The reason you didn't see us surfing is because we don't surf! Hell, I don't even put a toe in the water!
Thanks! We had a blast!

I have lived here for almost 30 years now - I can be in Cocoa Beach in 30 minutes but I bet I have been on the beach 3 times in all those years. And when I went, I stayed dry.
Glad y'all had fun!

(33,541 posts)I haven't been there for a few years.
When I was a kid I used to run between the Hermosa Pier and that Pier once a day at low tide.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,683 posts)Indeed, it is the Manhattan Pier........one of my favorite photo haunts.
That's a pretty good run between the two. Is it a mile? I'm not sure...
I haven't been down there in some time myself.
NNadir
(33,541 posts)I google mapped Pier Ave, Hermosa to Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach.
1.8 miles one way, so I guess I was running 3.6 miles in those days.
Wow.
It probably wasn't much to me then. I used to bicycle from Hermosa to Harbor City (where I worked) taking the route over the hill at Palos Verdes, occasionally take the bike path up to Santa Monica to run with my friends at Venice Beach.
Those were kind of radical times for me. I refused to own a car and lived pretty much on a bicycle.
Sigh...
When my wife and I were first married, we used to run an hour every day, the length of Del Mar, down in the San Diego area.
I sure couldn't do that now.
Sometimes I miss California, but in recent years I've become pure New Jerseyan, and wouldn't want to leave...except maybe last week.
It was, in fact, hellish here last week.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,683 posts)I'm glad you're happy in New Jersey. I think you would find the traffic here quite unbearable. And the prices are steep too.
Hopefully, what happened last week won't repeat any time soon.

(47,675 posts)Seriously, don't get near those things. They um,well, sort of, you know, bite.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,683 posts)Not to worry, sweetie! First of all, we did NOT go in the water. Secondly, those are NOT sharks......and I suspect you know that!
I believe they were dolphins, and they were devilishly hard to photograph.
Thanks for caring!
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)They were tricky.
