Being hard of hearing can lead to lots of laughs

Was over at my ex wife's yesterday helping doing yard work and putting things away in preparation for winter. She gave me a ride back to my place and on the way she told me a story that involved her daughter, a skunk, and being washed to get rid of the skunk smell.

The way I heard it was that she (my ex's daughter) had been sprayed by a skunk twice and the 2nd time right in the face and that her husband had to wash her to get rid of the smell.

I started asking questions as I knew this girl to be very smart as she graduated from high school near the top of her class and was getting straight "A's" in college and wondered aloud as to how in the hell did she manage to get sprayed in the face by a skunk.

There was some confusion for a bit as I asked questions and my ex then retold the story and what actually happened was that their dog had been sprayed twice by a skunk and the 2nd time right in the face. Both times her husband was gone at school and it was she that had to wash the dog.

My ex and I laughed and laughed the rest of the way to my place.

We still get along quite well and talk most every day. It isn't one sided as she does things for me to such as cook me meals and has me over or she has her son bring it over to me.

Another reason is that I put a great deal of work into that place and want to see it kept up.

And another is that she has emotional and mental issues and there are days when she can't do much of anything. I told her one son still living at home before I moved out that I will always be available if needed. A few times he's called me up and told me his mother was in bad shape and I told him to come and get me and I then stayed there till things got better. Other times she's came and got me herself or just stayed at my place for the same reason.
