The key word for me in the question is "relationship" and the responsibilities that are implied. For some people, a zombie daughter is a big non-starter. I once had to break up with a woman when I found out she had a lap dog--if we'd had sex first, I might have felt obligated to get past it, and of course it wouldn't end well. Call me crazy, but I think keeping a zombie daughter around is even worse.
