The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsA year ago I met my boyfriend
I met him online and on November 20th 2011 we met for the first time in person after chatting and talking on the phone for hours. I am 37 years old and it took me that long to find love. I am so happy with him. I can't imagine my life without him anymore. Next year in July I am going to move in with him.
Tonight he is going to take me out for a fancy dinner.
Here we are (a bit blurry)

That's a GREAT photo of both of you (and I don't find it blurry). You found yourself one handsome dude.

Report on what you had to eat, please.

You just reminded me of a great Fasching night in Germany (for those who don't know, it USED to
be a wild time when many social rules were cast aside -- it has mellowed to a months-long costume
party season ending (like Mardi Gras) on Fat Tuesday (though they don't call it that).
.
My ex was dressed as a Daisy Mae hillbilly girl in Daisy Dukes and pigtails and big freckles drawn on
and several teeth blacked out (normally, she was unbelievably stunning). My buddy and I were
dressed in nothing but bedsheet diapers, me with combat boots and he with cowboy boots (he was
from Oklahoma) and huge pacifiers. My ex had fixed our hair with little baby topknots. This was just
fine in the gasthaus we went to that was having its Fasching party that night.
.
But we got tipsy and in the mood for Italian food and decided to walk to the fine Italian restaurant
about a block away.
.
This is how cool Germany was. The maitre d' didn't blink at all and simply escorted us to our table
and everyone treated us as though we HAD worn the formal clothing that was usually required
there.
.
I miss Nurnberg for so many reasons.

Regarding Fasching ... depending on where you are, it is still mainly about drinking. I admit I am not a big fan of the Fasching/Fasnet/Karneval time.

(1,353 posts)Did you ever have the chance to go around Nurnbergring in a fast car? I've always wanted to do that.

(1,353 posts)I went to high school in the mid-late '70's. A friend of mine had one of these, it was green. One day, after smoking a lot of weed, he decided he didn't like the wing, so he cut it off. I protested, to no avail. What a dumb ass he was.

(10,418 posts)You two met a few weeks after my wife and I got married on November 5, 2011. It was the anniversary of our first date, so although we've been married a year we've been together for two years. And we were about the same age as you when we met. I'm 40 and she's 41 now.
I'm so glad you found someone. I remember you having difficulty in finding the right person and I kept thinking to myself that shouldn't be right! You're such a sweet person.
MissHoneychurch
(33,600 posts)Wow, you are already married a year? I still remember when you posted about meeting Jen and when you posted the wedding pics. I am happy for both of you as well.
Thanks Tobin, I am happy day by day that I met my bf. He is the best that has happened to me.
Regarding why I took so long ... I sometimes joke that I decided to skip the first divorce

(53,410 posts)You know his leaning his body and head into you is body language for love. It would never happen if he wasn't in love with you. And you're body language shows you certainly are accepting that love. You're leaning back.
MissHoneychurch
(33,600 posts)for the insight in the body language. I am more than accepting his love. I am returning it.
lunatica
(53,410 posts)the best way to accept it. It's obviously mutual.

(33,600 posts)We had a wonderful and very delicious dinner.
And I know July will be here before I know it. It will be the first time that I will live together with a man since I moved out from my parents. So it will be very interesting for me to see how that will work out. I look forward to it though.
