worst Thanksgiving ever, but still grateful. vibes please.

My 67 year old mother is visiting me.

She fell down about noon thanksgiving (we were supposed to meet my aunt for lunch reservations at 2).
here's the catch....she's 330 lbs, afib medication and blood thinners.
needless to say she scared the shit out of me.

She cut her eye lid open when she fell and she didn't want to get up, and she hurt her leg/knee.

I'm first aid/cpr certified, so I had to argue with her (she's stubborn) that if she couldn't get up, and she's
on blood thinners, we had to call 911 to get her checked out. Besides I can't lift her any way.

The good news is that after literally all freaking day in the ER, she had no head injury and no leg/knee was broken and she was sent home with pain med and anti inflammatory. They did do some blood work to make sure the motrin was going to be ok with her cumidin. She looks like she was in a car wreck and her leg is the scariest thing I have ever seen.

So Thanksgiving was shot all to hell, but at the end of the day...besides the huge freaking contusion on her leg (it's the size of a basketball...and I'm not kidding)....she will be ok. It will take a few days and maybe a couple of weeks before she's feeling better. So it sucks that we missed the holiday, but we were so glad that nothing was broken or needed surgery.

My mother drives me crazy but she's mine...and I'm glad she's gonna be ok.

Thanks to DU and the Lounge for letting me vent. There is so much more I need to tell you, but
it will have to wait for another time.

Oh, and that half-open bottle of pinot noir that I had opened the other day...yea, that baby is gone after I got her settled in bed. I had a liquid thanksgiving.
Mom at least got a turkey sandwich about 5pm at the hospital. I had ramen with broccoli at home about that time when I came home to let the dog out and take care of some things that HAD to be done at home.

We got home about 10:30 after picking up her scripts and she's finally high on the hydrocodone and sleeping.

So now I've finished this, I can go to bed...oh...and I still have to work tomorrow.

Thank goodness for Medicare and her supplement coverage.
Thank goodness that when we went to the ER they were not busy.
Thank goodness that I'm fully employed.
Thank goodness that I have my kitties and doggie.
And thank goodness for DU.
And thank goodness for Obama.

I love you all...yea, I'm a little drunk...but I'm entitled.

Goodnight. xoxoxo

Vent all you want......we will listen, and support you...

I'm glad your mom is OK, even if her leg looks awful. Thank goodness for Medicare and quiet Emergency Rooms when you really need them to be that way!

You ARE entitled!

Hope your workday goes well...

Managing coumadin dosage is a bear.

I'm sorry your Thanksgiving was so difficult. You deserve a real drink right now, instead of a cyber-drink...
