It seems like it's a big step up - better processor, more memory, better camera. Is it worth an extra $100?

(51,122 posts)Unless the $100 is a big hardship for you, I would go with the 4.
It's no small upgrade.
Also the 4 (and Smart Covers) are on sale today only, at the Apple Store and at apple.com.

(56,828 posts)We bought two at different stores, the iPad 4 and the iPad 2, and my wife isn't sure the newer iPad is worth the extra money. We're probably going to return one.
We could end up returning both and going with the Asus Vivo (Windows 8 tablet)

(47,675 posts)The pads are under-powered prototypes of what will eventually become a common tool. Stay with laptops for now. I've been involved in IT for over 35 years. The new shit is for suckers and always has been - the people who camp outside stores. That's how they figure out how to create something useful. They get the idiots to buy it and bitch about it and then modify the design. It was ever thus.

(193 posts)I bought an iPad mini over the 3 and 4 because Retina is too intense and is slightly heavier. Spend some time with both at the Apple store if you can.
