Well, thanks to YOU, when I showed him this post and the clip, he of course would not rest until he remembered who had played Captain Midnight.
"The Captain Midnight TV series, produced by Screen Gems and starring Richard Webb, began September 9, 1954, on CBS, continuing for 39 episodes until January 21, 1956."
That was the beauty of A Christmas Story..Jean Shepard nailed right down to the tiniest detail.
