and my DU experience has been much much better since then.

There are very few people that get under my skin as much as the denizens of Meta. It's just not worth my time to get into a fight with morons so I chose to let it go.

At least I've finally discovered whatever happened with the "old" DU -- Dozens of regular longtime contributors to LBN, GD and the Lounge are all sniping with each other in meta, ENDLESSLY...The admins must work 24/7 just to keep that silliness from overflowing and drowning out the rest of the forums...

IMO, the admins should probably burn meta to the ground and bring back the proper ATA forum...

But who the heck actually thought about it and decided that a place like Meta was a GOOD IDEA????

1. Keep all petty arguments in ONE thread...Even if it takes 2000+ posts to resolve. Stop the making of fresh threads to continue the same stuff because it just adds useless clutter...

2. Only the parties with personal stakes in the argument will be allowed to post...No more piling on, no getting 20 friends in the thread to defend your reputation when they don't even know the whole issue...

3. For the love of god, STOP ALERTING ON POSTS IN META! One of the reasons why I rarely do jury service now is when someone does it in meta for no reason other than wanting to be a jerk, I've got to read hundreds of posts of backstory just to properly place the context of the alerted comment...So eventually it got to the point where I was just letting everything in meta stand, because on a personal level, I believe meta should be the ONE place where you can voice your concerns without fear of alert -- Let the mods and admins deal directly with offending posts...

4. When an argument is over, it's OVER... No vendettas, grudges, revenge plots, etc. The pissed off parties can either learn to DU in harmony or find some other forum to troll each other...

Things calmed down for quite a while after She Who Must Not Be Named was unceremoniously tombstoned personally by Skinner early last summer, but The Usual Suspects have once again ratcheted up their outrage and turned that forum into St. Loony up the Cream Bun and Jam but with TOW missiles. The periodic purges instigated by TUS would make Uncle Joe Stalin smile and nod. The brave rear guard actions fought by some of the sane people over there (Hey, Warren deM and others) should simply should not have to be fought again, and again, and again. Fk it, I will head over to Equestria Daily and be happy rather than dive into that lagoon of swine excrement again. At least for a while, perhaps for a very long while.
