This is for discussion of tonight's episode, before, during and after the show.
I wonder how they'll resolve Michonne at the gates? And, what is going to happen with Glenn & Maggie in Woodbury? I can't wait to see Tyreese next week.
Oh, The Walking Dead is now the #1 show in the 18-49 demographic. First time ever for a basic cable show.

(18,705 posts)Rick did notice that she didn't act like a zombie at the end of the last show.
This should be another good show.

(56,829 posts)I'm sure it's not too shabby amongst other groups as well... maybe not kids, though.

(18,705 posts)Maybe 12 and up.
I remember watching tv shows that scared me when I was little.
Twilight Zone, Thriller, and One Step Beyound.
This show is a little to much for small children.

Not Glen and Maggie.

(17,621 posts)But everybody's happy to see Carol back.
Now Michonne is telling them where Glenn and Maggie are, and about the Governor.
I was thinking "hmmm, Darryl has something important to show the group"..... and then I was disappointed that it was only Carol. I completely forgot that she was rescued last episode.
Thought Merle would have used the pliers on Glen.

He is a test subject, creepy.

(46,769 posts)Did he kill him with drugs?

(18,705 posts)The governor made Maggie take her shirt off.
I hate him even more, but Maggie held up.
She is tough.
I hope Rick gets to kill Governor at some point.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)so, had volunteered to be a test subject.

The scientist guy was stupid, he was almost bitten.

(13,447 posts)Poor guy is sleeping peacefully in a cabin in the woods. Suddenly a bunch of people barge in with weapons bringing a ton of zombies with them. He panics, so they kill him and feed him to the zombies.

(13,661 posts)I missed 10 minutes between when Rick & co. stopped the car, and then Maggie telling the Governor and Merle where everyone was so they wouldn't shoot Glen.
charlie and algernon
(13,447 posts)so they hid inside a cabin, only to find it was occupied. The guy living in the cabin freaks out having been awoken from his nap by Rick. As he runs for the door, which is surrounded by zombies, he's stabbed by Micchone and then his body is thrown out the door to create a diversion so they can escape.

(56,829 posts)The guy was in there with a dead dog that stunk to high heaven, and then the guy acted like he didn't know what was happening? (I'm going to call the cops?)

(18,705 posts)I think if the Governor was killed the whole town would give up.

(13,447 posts)The show is thriving now that there's a serious villain. I could see TPTB keeping him around for at least the rest of the season.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)I would bet Rick could and would kick his ass anyday.
The show does need a villain.
Wish Maggie wouldn't have said anything about the prison.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)Merle doesn't seem to be scared of anybody - except the Governor. There must be a reason besides the fact that the Governor has 10-12-15 guys with guns supporting him, as they've been alone at least a few times in the first 7 episodes of this season.
Baitball Blogger
(46,769 posts)The showdown should be at the prison. I see them taking Maggie & Glenn, but leaving Andrea behind. Andrea will turn into a double agent.
Remember when they said in the trailer, she's leading us into a trap. And another one who said, leave her. I bet they were talking about Andrea.

(18,705 posts)Getting close to the Governor, really close.
Learning more secrets.
Someone has to do it.
Baitball Blogger
(46,769 posts)They have set it up that way, because we know there are lots of zombies in the cabin.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)He's getting to be a pretty vile villain now...with what he did with Maggie.
I wonder if they'll follow the comics where: (spoilers below)
In the graphic novels (GN), the governor chops off Rick's right hand, I think with Michonne's katana, if I remember. That's the reason why many speculated that Merle would be the governor after season one, since he lost his hand, and would exact revenge on Rick by doing the same to him.

(18,705 posts)This was a clue the writers were throwing out.
The Governor is crazy anyway, use his zombie daughter against him?
Spike89
(1,569 posts)There is no doubt that Rick's group, with Michone, is a match for any group up to as many as 10 Woodbury residents with the element of surprise on their side, but there are 70 people more or less in the town and they are holding hostages. They can't herd zombies into town as a distraction because they can't know that Glenn and Maggie would be in position to defend themselves, plus it would just add more enemies for themselves to deal with.
The only realistic ways to rescue the pair is in a quick and surgical raid, but that is going to be very difficult because they don't know where they are being held or they can get in, get hostages of their own (zombie daughter) and bargain their way out. Of course, Woodbury is currently without most of its "elite" henchmen who were sent to the prison to take on the survivors there.
I'm totally blown away at how satisfying this season has been compared to season two. They probably needed that slow season to develop the characters, but it was painful at times and really suffered in pacing compared to this season.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)A lot of them look like women and kids.
Not a tough looking bunch of people.
They have had it pretty soft in that town.
Spike89
(1,569 posts)Of course the Governor has shown to be a tad cautious about bringing strong men/fighters into his group. Still, even if most of the residents are soft fighters, like the poor archer girl on the wall "training" Andrea, there is no way for Rick and his group to tell who is a real threat and who is not. In a full-on battle, the confusion and numbers (as well as terrain) would all benefit the Woodbury group.
All that ignores the simple fact that Rick's group has a very difficult objective and the Woodbury people have a much easier task. If Glenn and Maggie die, Rick's group lost--even if they end up winning the war with Woodbury. The town/Gov. win either by killing the hostages or killing/repelling the attackers.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)I still think zombie daughter will come into the picture in a big way.
The two brothers will also be key players in this.
The Governor would do anything for zombie daughter.
He would give up Glen and Maggie for zombie daughter.
I would think that if the shooting starts a lot of the town people would run away.
We will see.

(2,511 posts)after a great first season, an uneven and somewhat sucky second, this third season is killer, really, really intense. Sometimes I have to watch in chunks, cause i just can't take it all at once.
Small wonder it is doing so well in the ratings. Nothing like it on tv.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)season so far, I think. Season 1 had a lot of highlights and a great first episode, but wasn't always great.
Season 3 has been consistently excellent.
