Van Halen next week will release its first new music with David Lee Roth since 1996, a single titled "Tattoo." Yes, they did so record two songs with Roth in 1996 for a greatest hits record. No, you didn't miss much.

It's going to be a busy month for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, who are set to drop a new album Feb. 7, the first with Roth in 28 years. Their upcoming tour kicks off next month in Louisville Kentucky, with tickets set to go on sale on Jan. 10, the same day the single will premiere and the same day the band says it will announce more concert dates. There's been no word about Bay Area shows yet.

The band will also perform Thursday in Greenwich Village, New York City, in a cafe once owned and operated by Roth's uncle Manny Roth, providing a stage to then-up-and-coming acts such as Jimi Hendrix, Bill Cosby, Bob Dylan, Richard Pryor and many others. The band will allegedly play a 45-minute set at the 250-seat venue.

According to fan site Van Halen News Desk, the band has shot its first video at the Roxy on Sunset Boulevard, where it's also been rehearsing for two months.

Also, Sammy Hagar is claiming that ALL of the "new" songs are leftovers that Eddie's had laying around for years.
