Last night, he kept making noise and jumping on the bed. I kept patting him on the head and he kept coming back and mewing and bripping. When we woke up there was a circle of socks around our bed and a trail of socks down to the laundry room in the basement! I guess it is better than dead mice or birds! (though he is a strictly indoor cat). They are goofy little critters.

(118,379 posts)First of like the name..my username is after a friend's pomeranian.
We had a cat that used to bring us pens --strangest thing lol. Used to get up and take them out of the "pen cup" and carry them around doing the yowl purr thing. Mostly in the middle of the night.
The boy I have now carries around one of those fishing poles about 3ft long. He chewed the toy of the end so we put a hair tie on it. He carries that pole up the steps by the hair tie merowing the whole way then brings it right to my chest in bed. He even drags it through the kitty door. I have never seen him take it down but I hear him drop it from the stop of the steps to let it slide down.
They are definitely goofy

(22,271 posts)She's my little bi-polar baby. She'll be perfectly relaxed, in my lap, being petted, purring, then all of a sudden, BAM! All teeth and claws, then back to relaxing and purring. It's an adventure. She was the roughest kitten I ever had (rescued from abandonment at 5 weeks). My hands and arms would be so torn up I looked like a shrapnel victim. But she's our little psycho kittie and we love her.

(14,628 posts)I used to live in a really old, historic section of New Orleans called the Marigny. The entire area, much like the French Quarter, has serious issues with roach and mouse infestation. It's very hard to control them without poisoning your home.
My cat Lala would catch live roaches in her mouth and bring them to me on my bed!
I had to kick her out of my bedroom at night until I moved out of the Marigny. Talk about insomnia . . .

Glad I am only getting socks!

(14,628 posts)and I think they're mainly in Florida. I have never personally seen a flying roach in New Orleans, but I wouldn't rule out their existence here. NO is a pretty strange place.
My skin is crawling as I write this . . . as if roaches in general aren't bad enough, FLYING cockroaches!?! Eewww!

(3,418 posts)He proudly brings them into the house. I don't know why he is attracted to these but he makes the same sounds a hunting cat does with its trophy. Meanwhile his baby sister(same age and litter) sensibly hunts her toy mice that I have purchased for her.

(115,899 posts)a 2' piece of foam weatherstripping that was around an air conditioner. When I took the a/c out of the window this thing fell behind the couch, and the cat found it. Now he carries it around with him, making this weird mouth-full howling sound, and at night he yowls and brips and brings it to me in bed. It's his bestest, most favorite toy.

(3,521 posts)I had just finished putting all my socks away in the top drawer of my dresser but I failed to push the drawer closed all the way leaving a 1/2 inch opening.
When I came back upstairs a couple of hours later each sock, except for one, had been pulled through the opening an now lay on the floor in a semicircle pattern around the dresser. No doubt the work of one of our new kittens.
Why she left just one sock in the drawer remains a mystery.

(8,601 posts)He plays fetch with us by bringing a "baw" and meowing until we throw it for him. Then he either brings it back to us, or first he'll make it all nice and clean by bringing it into the bathtub and rinsing it in the drain and then he brings us this nasty wet wad of plastic to throw. He used to repeat the "baw" thing 20-30 times in a row over the course of a couple of hours. But now that he's turned three, he is more lackadaisical about the whole thing and usually a couple times is enough for him.
Our next-to-oldest is a female who will take these "baws", or socks, or plushies, or other small objects and carry them around all over the house while making sounds like a busted harmonica. She's done this for the six years we've had her, and she wasn't quite fully grown when we took her in so she's now about seven. We call it "kittening".
Those two together are fun as hell to watch and interact with. Our other pair don't have any rituals involving toys, but they are both very affectionate and in-your-face fellas nonetheless.
