Although I believe some gnomes come from gNome, Alaska.

I think gnomes are German.

But they all seem to be variations on the same critter.

Leprechaun just look like little people.

But I'm not sure which it is.

Gnomes are naturists, I think; hunter-gatherers.

They're from Ireland, and hide pots of gold at the end of rainbows. Gnomes are from northern Europe, no gold, no breakfast cereal.

When brought to America, leprechauns, who work independently, vote Republican in large numbers. Gnomes, who work in groups, vote for Democrats. But they probably wouldn't have voted for Barack O'bama, a good Irish boy from Killarney.
