Lady Ga-Ga buys a $210,000 sable coat.

How incredibly retro.

Lady Gaga Slammed By PETA as “Out of Her Mind” For Buying Fur

Lady Gaga is being slammed by PETA after she reportedly purchased a number of pricey fur coats in Russia over the weekend.

The “Poker Face” singer is said to have bought a Russian sable coat worth about $210,000, as well as a silver fox coat valued around $19,600 at the Helen Yarmak store in Moscow.

Now, PETA is responding to the pop star’s fashion choices in an exclusive statement to Gossip Cop.

The animal rights organization says, “Out of place, out of time, and possibly out of her mind: While the country focuses on rejecting violence and we are deep into the season of peace, giving, and kindness, Gaga is busy decking herself out in a coat made of at least 30 slaughtered animals’ skins.”

...I've never heard of PETA or anyone else getting into quite as much of an uproar over leather jackets, though these are also made of the skins of animals...never heard of anyone throwing red paint on leather jackets or anything like that. Arguably, I suppose the leather might come from animals who are also used for meat, but if your argument is that blood should not be shed in the interest of fashion, you would think it would be applied more evenly.

came up with this possibility...

the leather is probably a by-product of an animal that was used for food anyway, as opposed to fur from mink, fox, etc., where the animal was raised (and killed) only for its fur.

leather shoes.

Man made materials only add to the environmental concerns, as I never see a place where shoes (unlike plastics, glass) are recycled.

Yet leather...from an animal...

I do have shoes from leather, and some from manmade materials. I try to make them last by not wearing them in the house. I hate wearing shoes in the house anyway. Just socks.

They say they make playground materials from the rubber. I'm not sure what the procedure is, but I know I drop off my old sneakers there instead of throwing them away.

I have absolutely detested PETA since the screwed up the WOW server I was on with their stunt of killing seals in Northrend. And for numerous other reasons. They make liberals look bad, and they piss me off beyond belief.

But yes, fucking up the dailies in Northrend upset me.

We fixed them, though.

on "The Lady Is A Tramp." Gaga stood toe-to-toe with one of the greatest singers of popular song that has ever lived and handled herself with singular distinction. She has some serious vocal chops and knows how to use them with style, taste and class.

i think she was wrong to buy fur. i am ok with fur for animals we eat, but it really seems unnecessarily vain to kill animals just for their fur.

animals kill each other for food, so i never object to the eating of animals. however, killing something just to be prettier, is unneeded cruelty
