The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWe got an iPad for Christmas.
Miz t. and I.
From our very generous daughter and son-in-law.
I don't know that we needed an iPad.
But they thought we did.
Don't get me wrong.
I do appreciate their thoughtfulness, and the expense they incurred.
Maybe I'll learn to love it.

That'll be nice I guess.

(26,109 posts)You can sit beside the missus cruising your favorite sites while she watches her favorite shows and everybody's happy.

(46,436 posts)and very shortly after one for me, since they're kind of personalized. Now we send text messages to each other from across the room. seriously, he said he wanted me to have one so I wouldn't spend so much time holed up out of sight in my office downstairs.

(54,256 posts)At least it seems so to me.
Two people in the same room not just speaking to each other.
Texting.

(2,176 posts)It is my camera, video recorder, computer, book reader, newspaper, mail, messaging, browsing, calendar, reminders and to do list, my photo storage, my word processor, my face to face or Skype video conferencing machine, my game center, my notepad, my sticky notes, my music recorder and synthesizer, my music library, my movie watching tool, and I can fill it up with lots of free apps and only pay for some like "pages". I have never owned a more useful device. One caveat, more of the new non-apple devices do all of this as well, but I started with Apple so I stay with it.

(54,256 posts)Oh wait...I bet there's an app for that.

(5,351 posts)I got it earlier this year and find that if I'm surfing the web or playing games, I don't fire up my desktop computer nearly as often as I used to. (Seriously, I can go a couple of weeks at a time at least.) I really enjoy being able to kick back in bed or on the couch to surf the web, and it's great for when I travel across the country to visit my parents, since it's loaded with games, books, TV shows, movies, and music.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.
