Been known to wear them to bed as pajama bottoms, works for me.

But out in public, well maybe at the gym under a pair of long shorts, but probably not. Otherwise, no.

Here's my LOL -- a couple of weeks ago, I was wearing suit, tie, and hiking boots, carrying a backpack and a computer case over my shoulder like a purse. Icame out of the office to go home for the night, the guy from the opposite suite was coming out at the same time, looked at me, also had a backpack, and said "Hey, suit and backpack". So, I said, yeah, with hiking boots, weird, huh? To which he said, "well, I was in Manhattan in October, I saw a lot of guys in suits wearing hiking boots and carrying backpacks"

Who knew I was a fashionista?
