About a month ago I posted that I thought I broke my fucking toe. Well, I thought it was healed but this morning I woke up and it was swollen and painful again. But now it's okay again.
What's up wid that?

(72,300 posts)Did you do something to your toe at the party last night? [IMG][/IMG]
I have old injuries that swell when I least expect it.

Getting old sucks until you consider the alternative.
I was very active in my younger days. Single most of my life. I worked hard, played hard. Owned a small sailboat when I was 29. At 40 I was first mate on a 60' Striker. Went up and down stainless ladders several times a day. Now, I think twice on my way out because I don't want to climb a few steps if I forget something.
Elevate your foot, increase your water intake and relax.

(46,716 posts)I guess I hit the perfect storm for swelling.
Thanks for the analysis!

(70,696 posts)To rule out the broken part at least, and there are diagnostics for gout. When I had my first gout attack I had no clue, wondering, did I kick something or somebody, did I fall?!1 I was in N'orlins and was cramming the fried seafood and beer, and one morning after this incredible pain in the foot (gout is often the big toe). Hobbling around then in the car, Dr Dean EDELL was on the radio and this caller described my exact symptoms and the doc told her it was gout and what that was. (It *is* a form of arthritis, btw.) So I ate nothing but salad for a few days and it departed (until the next attack years later). I'm on allopurinol permanently now. Anyway, get some attention for it, will ya?!1

(46,716 posts)It's really not bothering me since the break, except for the first two or three hours in the a.m. And I think there were three factors that worked against me. 1) I had a mild toe stubbing yesterday that I ignored 2) Too much salt intake & 3) humid weather.
But thanks for the concern. I really appreciate it!
