This I think is a song that should be thought of for 2013.

I for one, feel as if I have been lead around and made to be something I'm not. My New Years Resolution is no more "Please sir, may I have some more?"! People will just have to learn to live with me the way I truly am. A hell raising Yellow Dog Liberal! Don't like it?

I found it pretty inspiring myself, listened to that cd a lot this last fall. Also 'It's My Life', who can't love a song with the lyrics 'Like Frankie said, I did it my way' ?

My New Year's resolution is "Up your nose with a rubber hose!"

"We're not gonna take it!
Never did, and never will,
Don't want no religion,
And as far as we can tell,
We ain't gonna take you
Gonna break you,
Gonna shake you,
Let's forget you, better still....."

--The Who, from the rock-opera Tommy

(not exactly sure that's how the words go, but it's the idea.....) .

thanks for posting it! You're so right.

"This one's about anyone who does it differently..."

I see group think as the preface to the action of following, and both can't go out of style too fast for me. We each have a brain of our own to do our own thinking, not to delegate that to someone we claim to "trust". That is such bullshit. And if that did not go on so much, there would be very few in the RW today. (Think of how many problems that alone would solve.)

Each one of us who comes and goes on this earth is unique, and a wonder. One matters. I hope for a world, in 2013 and always, in which all could actualize their potential to a much greater degree -- that's what the political struggle is all about, to me. This world as it is wastes so much of it, and for such stupid, worthless reasons.

"Be --
As a page that aches for a word
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless,
And the one God will make for your day..."

"You got to shake your fists at lightning now,
You got to roar like forest fire
You got to spread your light like blazes
All across the sky.
They're gonna aim the hoses on you --
Show 'em you won't expire.
Not till you burn up every passion,
Not even when you die.
Come on now, you gotta try.
If you're feeling contempt, well then you tell it,
If you're tired of the silent night, jesus well then you yell it..."

Anyway, that all is my message to myself this New Year, and that comes after being a long time this place...

"Everybody points their hand at me.
I know I'm just a picture of what I should've been..."

Disappointment is a hard thing to take. But some choose/chose "failure" out of an informed rejection of what "success" would've meant or cost, so that can't be regretted after all. It's just still hard. And it sure doesn't make the struggles that go with it any easier.

"She knows there's no success like failure,
And that failure's no success at all..."

Anyway, a very Happy New Year to you, Lady Freedom Returns!
