Short story: my mother lives in assisted living and has early Alzheimer's. She's mostly OK, but emotional and fragile.
She adores her cat.
On 12/21, her room caught on fire (wiring) - no one (including Sweet Pea) was hurt - and she's just now back at her assisted living place in a temporary room until her 'old' room is renovated.
The last two weeks she and her kitty have been at my sister's; Mom and Sweet Pea moved back in last night.
Today there were workmen at my mom's place, working on her old room and a few other areas damaged by the fire and water. My mom's cat has gone into hiding and hasn't come out; my mother is freaking out, can't find her anywhere in the facility, and just can't handle this kind of stress well.
I'm pretty sure Sweet Pea didn't go outside (it's 21 and snowing there) but even if she did, cats are OK if they're out of the wind.
Most likely, Sweet Pea is hiding somewhere in the facility; we all know if cats don't want to be found, they won't be found.
I live 2000 miles away. My sister who lives in town is there, but it's not like they can do a room to room search this late at night.
I'm pretty sure the cat will be found and come out in her own sweet time, but spare vibes can't go astray... my mom needs calming vibes so she doesn't hyperventilate herself into a heart attack, and Sweet Pea needs get-your-ass-home / come-out-of-wherever-the-hell-you're-hiding vibes.
Thanks.

Get home Sweet Pea!
I think she's curled up under someone's bed and won't be found until morning. The facility has four separate houses grouped around a courtyard, each house has about 10 rooms and SP could be in any of the rooms in my mom's house...

(2,015 posts)I know from my little devil cats that if they don't want to be found they won't be. My little one had me in such a panic last week I almost called my niece over to help me find her even though I knew she had to be in the house unless she had learned how to unlock the door and re-lock it behind her.
