(28,552 posts)... even at the tender age I was when this came out I was into "heavy" stuff, I always liked this song a lot.
However, the recording itself sounds atrocious to me, the layered vocals horribly distorted.
Still, a one-of-a-kind tune.

Susan Cowsill Thinks Her Brother Barry Killed Himself

Susan Cowsill of The Cowsills has a theory on what happened to her brother, Barry: he committed suicide. Barry Cowsill's body was recovered several months after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005. Susan Cowsill says Barry was going to enter rehab when Katrina hit, and he had asked several family members to help him get out of New Orleans. A tree in a New Orleans park was found with a brass plaque that says, "In honor of Barry Cowsill, who died a true genius on the levee, Sept. 2, 2005." Susan Cowsill says Barry's necklace was wrapped around it, and the friend with whom Barry had been staying was missing a piece of brass. Cowsill says she thinks Barry put up a memorial to himself and walked into the water. Cowsill sings about Katrina on her new album, "Lighthouse."

(1 post)Barry was a very sensitive soul, and I was not surprised to find out that he may have committed suicide. If this is the case, God bless his beautiful soul for all eternity. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU BARRY COWSILL! YolyCow

I asked the local radio station to play that for me back in 1968. They played "Little Arrows" instead.

(220 posts)Hi,
Find a nice stereo copy & listen with some great headphones. The production on this song was fantastic. If you do not have any headphones , then listen to it really loud.
Trivia question !!! What Seminal 60's event was one of the writer's of this song involved with a few years later ?
