Which place to put this post ... Sports, or Media? A "conspiracy thought" on the SB blackout
Years ago, Howard Stern made good on a promise.
After hitting the top spot in the local radio ratings, Howard and crew came to Cleveland to celebrate.
Right in the middle of his broadcast, the power was cut.
He had to continue his broadcast via phone, I believe.
As it turned out, an "intern" from a rival station was "blamed" for cutting the power cable. (BTW, I believe that interfering with a radio broadcast was still a FEDERAL OFFENSE at that time). Case went to court, intern and radio station got a slap on the wrist. (Couldn't be proved that the intern was ordered to do the trick; note: the judge who let them off turned rightward in the past few years)
One of the morning from the rival station is now broadcasting 1 hour a day on a low-wattage station, FOR labor rights.
However, the other, Jeff Kinzbach (sp?) of WMMS, just announced on Friday that he would be starting in the Akron area, replacing a popular duo in the morning.
Then, lo and behold, the power went out to the SuperDome yesterday, right in the middle of "the big game".
And Jeff K started his new "career" at WONE in Akron Ohio.
Co-incidence?
Well, actually, yes. But if I were a real nutjob ...
