"Water-proof tape" included with First Aid kits -- what good is it?

It has all the stick-strength of a Post-It note. It won't stick to skin. Won't stick to gauze; barely sticks to itself.

So what am I supposed to use it for !?

Put the gauze down to cover and protect the wound. Put the waterproof tape over that, with overhang on all sides, tightly to form a waterproof barrier. Use medical tape to hold the whole thing in place.
