Something cheaper since I probably wasn't going to remember what it tasted like anyway, so why waste the good stuff?

they changed from top shelf on my first drink, to something of a lower quality
for all subsequent orders.

Their loss.

My taste buds are very acute.
I'm not easily pleased about food or drink.
Adequate, isn't sufficient.

I would have stopped going there.

I mean, saving $16 on my bill because I can't get what I want [img][/img]
is hurting them more in their profit loss than they know.
Drinkers aren't totally clueless.

... to determine whether the liquor they're drinking is well or top-shelf -- these are
mixed drinks, mind you -- and the more or heavier the mix, the harder to taste the
base.
.
That bar (or bartender -- he/she may have been charging YOU for top-shelf, but
ringing up crap liquor and pocketing the difference) was stupid for doing that after
the FIRST drink... towards the end of a long night of drinking is when one would
be more likely to get away with it.

.
And almost everyone with a home wine cellar will (and rightfully so, because of
what I've mentioned above) bring out lesser-and-lesser quality wines (though
perhaps still GOOD-quality) so as not to waste his/her better wines on drunks or
people whose palates have been dulled by alcohol intake.
.
.
One of my favorite college professors (and also good friend) was the opposite.
He was fairly wealthy and had an extensive wine cellar -- a climate-controlled
good-sized ROOM -- and the more HE drank, the more likely he would be to
come up off some of his finer vintages.

Back when there were nights that I_T_W was in a mood to say, fuck it, lets just drink . . .
it was shots, or over the rocks. You can't fool I_T_W then.

I_T_W still took care to indulge herself with the best or say, goodnight.
