My next 4 kittehs are already named. I travel all the time for work, and the kitties will be named after various cities I've worked in. Lexie (Lexington, KY), Packer (Green Bay, WI), Nucky (Atlantic City, NJ), and Abby or Radford (Abingdon, VA, Radford, VA).

Maine coons are most likely descended from Norwegian Forest Cats, and Norway had many kings named Magnus, so that's my vote. It's also a strong, big sounding name.

Welcome to the forum!

He shall be so named;

Raphael (the healer!) Magnus

Thank you all! I really appreciate it. All the other animals I have ever had were named in minutes, but this has been two days.

We searched cities in Maine, France (where the Maine Coons allegedly came to NA)

French names, Italian names, (bingo!) and now your name.

Maine racing icon, father of NASCAR Cup car building wizard Steve Leavitt. "Grampy" knows more about race cars than about anybody, and he has one or 2 of whatever you need, somewhere around here.......
A crafty Maine cat, indeed......

I love Maine Coons. But it will take a while for him to look like that. Maine Coons can take up to four years to reach full adult size.

And guess what.

Best of luck with your new owner. May you both have great fun together.

Maine Coons are large enough to shake the ground when they walk, so name him after the inventor of the Richter Scale.
