I like the music on the first go around but after awhile, it gets a little repetitious.
The sound is unique and the energy is really good, but the band doesn't seem to want to break out of the slow buildup to a frenzy point and then stop that defines most of their songs. The lyrics use good imagery and passion but are trapped in repetitive phrasing.
It would be interesting to see how they get to the next round of songs and how they pull it off.
I like building a songs intensity and power without any change in tempo which is where M&S excels.
Every time I see them I want to really like them but I seem to be like Lou Grant when he tells the new Mary Tyler Moore that she has spunk and that he hates spunk. I think what this means is the eagerness to be loved goes way beyond the ability to sustain.
I hope they make it out of the spunk phase just like MTM did.

(19,053 posts)F-bomb alert in Little Lion Man. If you can get past the one word it really is a fabulous song:
I really enjoy their music

(149,678 posts)They were both good, but I really enjoyed Little Lion Man more. And the F-bomb didn't bother me!
I especially liked the camera work in that one, too.

(27,711 posts)I don't care for them and that's despite having heard their song like a million times on KROQ here in L.A.

(27,711 posts)...but this year the talent gap was really glaring between the more-established talent that was guest performing and many of the nominees. Wasn't a good year for new albums

(2,484 posts)Not all new music, but this "folksy rock" stuff is just the new hipster ironic fad.
Thank that lawdy for Sirius....a click on my steering-wheel away from any type of music, commercial free. I couldn't even imagine listening to LA/OC FM Radio...haven't for 5 years.

(10,418 posts)I think they are all only in their mid-twenties.
A lot of people think they are fabulous, though, and I predict they'll walk away with at least one grammy.

(12,296 posts).... I 'd them for the first couple albums, but by now they're entirely predictable.
Grohl, still a mini-God, but I expected more creativity. Sigh.

(24,931 posts)I loved Mumford and Sons first album, but I was hoping for something different from their second.

Try giving the Avett Brothers a listen, I'm really digging them. They have toured with Mumford.
