(34,136 posts)One of my favorite paintings of all time.
I had a print of it that got faded after hanging for 30 years. Then I bought a print on canvas that looks like a painting. That's hanging in the dining room.

(7,515 posts)Did that painting come to mind when you first saw the snow sculpture? It nagged at me all day yesterday.

(34,136 posts)Especially since there are 3D wall sculptures available with the same idea, usually in white.
If you google the painting title, you can find all kinds of images of the original, the studies done for the painting, and imitations.

(34,136 posts)The original poster print I had was very much like your image. The print on canvas is much brighter, which I like.

(34,136 posts)By John Fredrick Herring Sr. It was a very popular lithograph in the late 1900s. I have three versions of it - a pen and ink study by the brother of a friend of my great aunt's, a black & white lithograph, and a color lithograph. The image also appeared on belt buckles for the 7th Calvary and many other places.
