(59,305 posts)Smallville per the comics was very small, around 1500 people or so. In the tv series Smallville was substantially bigger, I believe the population number on the Smallville sign stated the city was around 18k. The worst mistake in Smallville the tv series was making Metropolis into Kansas City, and Smallville was roughly 4hrs west.
I always imagined Smallville was a bit southwest of Manhattan, KS.....

(59,305 posts)in regards to Metropolis at least. I always thought of Metropolis being New York City, and Gotham being Chicago. In the new Batman movie trilogy with C. Bale, Gotham is in Illinois(at least B. Wayne's tags had Illinois plates).
