A tintype of my Great Aunt Sarah. She died of the flu shortly after this was taken. You can see she wasn't too pleased about all the fuss in getting into fancy clothes. You can almost see the tears in her eyes after getting her hair brushed. Lol
If I can figure out how to cross post I will do so in photography. Lol But I wanted to share with my friends in the lounge.

(12,132 posts)there is no real crosspost here as far as I know so you'll just have to duplicate this post in photography..You can make it a little easier by hitting edit on your OP and just copy every thing in the box and then pasting it into a new Photog post. You'll have to title it manually though...

(873 posts)I have the picture displayed in my dark bedroom to keep it intact. And to keep her memory intact too. I think of her as the guardian angel for my children. Largely because she was taken away at such an early age.

(21,925 posts)I like how people in old pictures didn't feel compelled to smile all the time for the camera but let their natural feelings show.

(873 posts)They had desks, dressers and headboards in the attic. Being 12 or 13 I tried to help haul the furniture out of the 3 floor attc. Everybody that helped out got at least a trinket. I always loved an intricately illustrated 1st or second edition of the Wizard of Oz. I didn't get the book and this portrait was my second choice. I would like to believe that I would have resisted the urge to sell the book. But I will never part with Aunt Sarah!
